In Kiwanis you will find friendship, fellowship and meaningful service. Join in and be an active part this year of a “global organization of volunteers working to improve the world, one child and one community at a time.” Nothing could be better. I am excited about the year ahead. If you are not a Kiwanis member, we want to welcome you to the K-Family! If you are a Kiwanis member, please ask a friend to join you at your club, at your next service project or club social!
As of October 1, 2017, we have active club building efforts in Edgerton and Ottawa. Next, we have plans to build two more clubs. After that the sky is the limit. With our great class of Lt Governors and our Formula Growth Team, we are actively working to grow both the numbers and strength of clubs in Kansas in the coming year. We are planning club strengthening sessions and additional club building efforts around the entire state.
Thank you for the honor of serving this great district in the year ahead! Join me as we make a difference!
Yours in the friendship and fellowship that is Kiwanis,
Jan Haley Maxwell
The Great Kansas District of Kiwanis International
Hello and Thank you for visiting the Kansas District of Kiwanis.
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers, dedicated to improving the world, one child and one community at a time.
The Kansas District is comprised of 73 Kiwanis clubs consisting of over 1,800 members making a difference in their communities and in the lives of children every day.
Children are priority one in the Kiwanis organization. Through our service projects, fundraising efforts and sponsorship, we dedicate ourselves to help make the world better for the children living here. Through Kiwanis sponsorship we hope to teach children about servant leadership, giving back to their communities and being role models for younger generations to follow.
Kiwanis International is unmatched in programs offering opportunities for young people to grow in leadership skills, experience the joy of serving others and learn more about themselves, their communities and the world. Through these opportunities, youth and young adults become competent, capable and compassionate leaders.
What opportunities are there in your community for the whole family to serve?
The Kansas Kiwanis District supports these service leadership programs:
CKI - for college students
Circle K International (CKI) is the premiere university service organization in the world sponsored by Kiwanis International. With clubs on more than 550 campuses globally, programming is based upon the tenets of service, leadership, and fellowship.
Key Leader - for youth leaders
Key Leader is a leadership experience for today's youth leaders. It focuses on service leadership as the first, most meaningful leadership development experience. A Key Leader learns the most important lesson of leadership; leadership comes from helping others succeed.
Key Club - for high school students
245,000 high school leaders from 24 countries unite every day to provide service in their homes, schools, and communities, and complete more than 12 million hours of service. Key Clubbers work to help eliminate HIV/AIDS in Africa, stop premature birth, and battle for the rights of children in their communities.
Builders Club - for middle and junior high school students
Nearly 40, 000 middle and junior high students in 1,300 clubs in 18 nations contribute service to school and community while developing leadership and people skills. Builders Club members implement practical service-learning principles as they focus on supporting organizations that focus on the needs of children.
KKids - for elementary students
K-Kids is a student-led community service club for elementary students that teaches members the value of helping others through participation in community service projects and club activities.
Terrific Kids is a student recognition program that promotes character development, self-esteem, and perseverance. Students work with their classroom teacher and establish goals to improve behavior, peer relationships, attendance, or schoolwork. Thoughtful, Enthusiastic, Respectful, Responsible, Inclusive, Friendly, Inquisitive, Capable.
Bring Up Grades (BUG) is a program designed to provide recognition to students who raise their grades into an acceptable range, and maintain or continue to raise them from one grading period to the next.
Aktion Club - for adults with disabilities
Aktion Club members in more than 200 clubs in seven nations allow adults living with disabilities to develop initiative and leadership skills through hands-on service. These adults return to the community the benefits, help, and caring they have received.
Kiwanis is an International organization working on global campaigns like the Eliminate Project. This worldwide project partners with UNICEF to work to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus around the world.
